Day 1 (Friday 1 August 2025) Beamish - the North of England Living Museum

We picked up James early and drove to Beamish.  When we arrived, we registered James's card and we were in. First thing was to take some funny photos and then on to our first tram ride to the pit village.  Whilst Graeme had a look round the pit cottages, James and Elizabeth went in the schoolroom. James was very definite that he would rather go to St Anne's.  The queue for fish and chips was long so Elizabeth gave it a miss.

We spent the afternoon in the play area in the 1950s town and got a drink in the Sun Inn in the 1900s town as well as lots of tram rides. We visited the drift mine but the queue to go in was quite long. We then went to find Puffing Billy and were pleased to find that he was running so we had a ride.

By now we were tired so we left Beamish and went to our hotel via the Pizza Hut at the Metro Centre.
